Léo Lérus began his dance journey with the Guadeloupean traditional Gwoka dance under the guidance of Léna Blou.
In 1999, he launched his professional career, performing with renowned international companies such as Random Dance Company, Batsheva Dance Company, WinterGuests, and L-E-V Dance Company.
Inspired by these experiences, Lérus began creating his own works in 2010, which were presented internationally. After a 2017 research residency at Chaillot - Théâtre national de la Danse, he sought to deepen his connection to Gwoka and his Guadeloupean culture in his creations.
With support from France's Ministry of Culture, he created Gounouj In Situ in 2022, performed in the natural site of Grande Anse, Guadeloupe. In 2024, followed Gounouj, which is an adaptation for theaters and currently touring internationally.
Since January 2023, Léo Lérus has been an associate artist at ViaDanse, Centre Chorégraphique National of Belfort under the direction of Héla Fatoumi/Eric Lamoureux.
