Jair Montes (they/them) is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist working between Brussels and Mexico. Their practice moves across sound, movement, performance, and world building, exploring how artistic spaces can function as containers for collective presence, memory, and transformation. Drawing from Indigenous and decolonial thought, Latin American feminisms, queer and cyberfeminist practices, and embodied research, they create environments where listening becomes a form of relation and care.
Through DJing, live sound, movement, and collective composition, Jair approaches music as a living archive of migration, resistance, spirituality, and communal knowledge. Their work investigates how sound can open temporary sanctuaries where bodies gather, rest, imagine, and move together beyond normative structures of time and identity.
Jair holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Dance from P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels and previously trained at the National School of Classical and Contemporary Dance in Mexico City. Alongside their artistic practice, they work as a dramaturg and technical director, developing projects that integrate sound, movement, performance, and collective world building across artistic, cultural, and interdisciplinary contexts.
